Core Needs NYC informs and educates families of children with neurodevelopmental disorders about the various holistic health treatment options available to them through media and personal consultations.
I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and love working with families of children with autism, ADHD, SPD and related disorders. I help parents make the connection between food and their child’s health, learning, mood and behavior. We find easy, effective and efficient ways to improve their diet and nutritional intake. This might include removing food triggers and supplementing vitamin and mineral deficiencies. As the kids start to feel better they begin to learn faster.
I introduce parents to the concept of a “whole body systems” approach. We look for underlying root causes that could be exacerbating their child’s symptoms. The health of our children’s gut is tied to the health of their brain. When we work to fix their gut issues, kids begin to get more out of their therapies and make faster progress.
Most of the parents I work with have children who are picky eaters. This can sometimes be due to nutritional deficiencies and food sensitivities. I also give parents tips and strategies they can use at home to encourage their kids to try new foods.
As a mother to a child whose autistic symptoms improved dramatically through dietary changes and gut-healing strategies, I have first-hand experience implementing and troubleshooting this process. I have put together a handy toolbox of creative, resourceful and practical tips that work.
In my twelve years experience I have also accumulated hundreds of hours of research into multiple approaches that helped my son create meaningful change in all areas of his development. I can refer you to qualified professionals who can provide the following services to your child:
- Son-Rise Program
- MNRI – Primitive Reflex Integration Therapy
- Diet and Nutrition
- Biomedical/Functional Medicine
- Speech Therapy
- Sensory Integration Therapy
- Vision Therapy
- Listening Therapy
- Craniosacral Therapy
- Holistic Dentistry and Integrative Orthodontics
- Self-Care for parents
Whether you are a parent of a newly diagnosed child trying to figure out what to do next or you are a seasoned parent who is looking at new or complementary approaches, I can guide you to make informed decisions and work side by side with you as you take the steps to help your child thrive.
My formal education includes: BFA in Film & Television from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (1997), and certificate as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (2017).
