Core Needs NYC informs and educates families of children with neurodevelopmental disorders about the various holistic health treatment options available to them through media and personal consultations.
I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and love working with families of children with autism, ADHD, SPD and related disorders. I especially enjoy helping parents learn about the connection not only between food and their child’s physical or medical symptoms but also their mood and behavior. I help parents find easy, effective and efficient ways to improve their child’s diet and nutrition, which might include removing food triggers and investigating vitamin and mineral deficiencies, so that they feel and learn better. I introduce parents to the concept of a “whole body systems” approach which looks at underlying physiological and biochemical factors that could be exacerbating their child’s symptoms.
As a mother to a child whose autistic symptoms improved dramatically through dietary changes and other holistic means, I have first-hand experience implementing and troubleshooting this process, and as a result, have put together a handy toolbox of creative, resourceful and practical methods that work. In my eleven years experience I have also accumulated hundreds of hours of research into multiple approaches that I implemented to help my son and can refer you to qualified professionals who can provide the following services to your child:
- Son-Rise Program
- MNRI – Primitive Reflex Integration Therapy with the Masgutova Method
- Diet and Nutrition
- Speech Therapy
- Sensory Integration Therapy
- Vision Therapy
- Listening Therapy
- Craniosacral Therapy
- Holistic Dentistry and Integrative Orthodontics
- Self-Care for parents
My personal experience as a parent to a child with ASD and certification as a Holistic Health Coach gives me the ability to support parents in a unique way by looking at possible underlying root issues that when addressed properly result in the child making faster progress at school and in their social skills and behavioral therapies . When you live in the world of special needs 24/7 you become your child’s best expert and advocate. Through a long process of trial and error you also learn invaluable tips and strategies and gain a wealth of insider knowledge and wisdom. Whether you are a parent with a newly diagnosed child and are feeling overwhelmed with too much information or you are a seasoned parent who is looking at new or complementary approaches, I can guide you to make informed decisions and work side by side with you as you take the steps to help your child thrive.
My formal education includes: BFA in Film & Television from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (1997), and certificate as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (2017).
